Hello! It’s
good to finally be able to ‘talk’ to other musicians and music fans via a new CD and this website.
I’ve spent most of my musical career playing other people’s music, and I had a lot of fun doing that.
It's much easier to get attention and approval by playing tunes that people already know and recognize instantly
when you play it for them. I’m good at that, too—I can make it sound ‘just like the CD,’
and there’s a lot of satisfaction in that. But it’s been short-sighted not to bring out my
own voice before now.
Hard Rock is still what moves me the most—it’s the
closest to the classical music that I grew up. It’s what challenges me the most when I write.
I find it relatively easy to come up with the music. It’s finding words that have the same
degree of interest and intensity that’s difficult for me; I don’t want to slack off in this department, and I’m
disappointed when other hard rock or metal bands seem to do so.
The songs that have meant the most to me are hopefully echoed in this album, even though it may not sound like
them. "Four Sticks" by Led Zeppelin, "Summerland" by King's X, "Cry You a Song" by
Jethro Tull, and "Woman" by the James Gang, are all wonderful songs that inspired me. In newer times, I've
also been moved by "Crawling in the Dark," (Hoobastank), "The Pretender," (Foo Fighters), and "Cherub
Rock," (Smashing Pumpkins.)
